Order of Christian Initiation for Adults
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program is a spiritual journey within the Roman Catholic Church, designed for adults who wish to explore or deepen their faith. Open to individuals 18 years or older, the program welcomes those who are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized as Catholics but have not completed the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.

The OCIA program runs from September through Lent, culminating in the Easter Vigil. Participants engage in weekly sessions that cover Catholic worship, traditions, and practices, as well as Scripture reflection. The program also includes opportunities for community service, spiritual retreats, and the support of a sponsor, who acts as a guide and spiritual companion throughout the process.

The journey encourages personal reflection and growth, offering a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and fostering a fuller discipleship in Jesus Christ.

Those interested are encouraged to attend Mass at The Shrine and meet with someone on the Adult Initiation team for more information.

The OCIA program is a part of your faith journey that is flexible, allowing you to explore the process and decide at any time if you wish to continue or pause your participation. This ensures that you can approach your spiritual growth at your own pace, with the freedom to take the journey as far as you're comfortable.
